VERNON CHORALE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
It has been two years since the Vernon Chorale has performed in front of a live audience and we are thrilled to be able to stand before you and sing! The focus of our 41st season is the joy that singing brings to both singer and listener. Our Artistic Director, Ehren Brown, has thoughtfully planned concerts full of inspirational music that will evoke just that. Joy. Our Collaborative Pianist, Kathleen Bartkowski, sits ready at the piano, our Conducting Fellow, Kirby Stalley, happily returns to continue honing his conducting skills. As singers, we are ready to be a part of his continuing growth.
Even with all this excitement, it’s important to note that last season’s remote rehearsals and video performances became adequate tools to continue our mission through the pandemic. Not only were we able to continue to perform music for the community, we grew musically when rehearsing and recording our individual videos alone in our homes. During our time on Zoom we also had some fun. We had trivia nights, shared stories, and laughed together. Consequently we began to know each other better. Because of this shared experience, I believe we are a more cohesive group that is now reenergized and eager to perform together again, even if we have to mask!
Like many other organizations, over these past two years our board of directors and singers have learned how to be flexible and adapt to the environment surrounding us. We are now ready with these new found qualities in hand, ready to make adjustments needed in order to safely bring Vernon and surrounding towns the quality music expected from us. Everyone involved in our music making has looked forward to rising out of the pandemic to better serve our audiences, and to continue supporting young local musicians in our Fellowship programs. We continually hear positive feedback from our audience members, the Vernon Arts Commission, town administrators, and donors about how grateful they are to have the Vernon Chorale performing. We are, in turn, grateful to this community for supporting what we love to do.
