A MESSAGE FROM OUR ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
In the fall of 1980, the Vernon Chorale was formed by a dedicated group of singers who wanted to sing together and share choral excellence with our town. 45 years later, the Vernon Chorale is still thriving. How does that happen? How does a choir not just exist for 45 years, but also continue to thrive and stay fresh and relevant? In short: it's the people we attract and the community we create together, through the finest singing possible.
Our singers are some of the best humans you'll find anywhere. We take care of each other. We celebrate each other’s successes and comfort each other in times of trouble. We embrace that essence of the choral art that realizes that we are all in this together and that we literally can't create this sound without each other. Turns out, that's also a great way to make other people feel like they matter! People respond to that feeling and keep coming back.
But without music, we'd just be a wonderful group of people. The members of the Vernon Chorale are also unified in their dedication to creating choral music at the highest level, and to invite audiences to share that experience with us. That pursuit of excellence is the other thing that drives us, and is what keeps us pushing ourselves to improve and refine our art.
It turns out, you can excel and lift others up along the way. It's a formula that I've never quite articulated until now, but when I think of what has motivated my work with the Chorale over the years, it's this very duality - compassion and musicality - that has been behind so much of our times together. Clearly, it has spoken to so many singers over the years who are drawn to the Chorale! And we hope that our unique blend of humanity and musical excellence resonates with you - both this season and in our shared musical moments to come.
