THE VERNON CHORALE
The Vernon Chorale, Inc.’s principle mission is to provide a forum to learn and refine choral singing and to educate audiences through the presentation of choral music concerts, sacred and secular.
The Vernon Chorale is a vibrant, growing non-profit organization with a mission of providing the highest quality choral music to central Connecticut and the Greater Hartford area. Established in 1980 and officially incorporated in 2002, our organization, guided by bylaws, a mission statement, and a Board of Directors, has a membership of almost fifty volunteer singers selected by audition and drawn from the Greater Hartford’s community of both trained and amateur musicians. We are dedicated to the utmost caliber of choral singing and musical excellence.
What We Do
The Vernon Chorale presents high-quality choral concerts three times a year, drawing its members from Greater Hartford’s community of trained musicians. Our programming covers a broad range of choral music from the Renaissance to newly commissioned works. Recent performances have included Rachmaninoff’s Vespers, Schubert’s Mass in G Minor, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Howells’ Requiem. In 2008, the Chorale performed at the fall conference of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association at Central Connecticut State University. In 2011, the Chorale partnered with the University of Connecticut Festival Chorus to present a celebration of Mozart featuring a full orchestra accompanying the choirs’ performance of Mozart’s Requiem (K. 626) and Vesperae solennes de confessore (K. 339).
Established in 1980, the Vernon Chorale offers residents of Vernon and the greater Tri-Town area an opportunity to participate in a community chorus that prepares and performs a wide variety of choral music. In 2002, the chorale became officially incorporated, and is now a not-for-profit organization with bylaws, a mission statement, and a Board of Directors.
In the Community
The Vernon Chorale greatly values its ties and support with the local Vernon community, as well as embraces opportunities to reach audiences all across Connecticut. At the core of our community outreach lies our Choral and Conducting Fellowships. Our Fellowship programs offer students and aspiring young musicians a space to learn while taking part in a community chorus.
